Five Things to Enjoy Before Summer Ends in Rising Sun
Thank you to Fox Farms for planting and sharing this beautiful sunflower display with our community each year! 🌻
Stop for a Photo at Rising Sunflowers 🌻
The beautiful Rising Sunflowers display has returned just outside of town and is once again providing a picture-perfect backdrop for late-summer photos. Stop by to admire the field, sit on the bright red bench, and capture a few photos among the blooms.
Visitors can also leave a donation, with 100% of donations benefiting the One Sunny Day fund for security and safety at Rising Sun–Ohio County Schools. It has become a special annual sight in our community—so enjoy it while the sunflowers are in bloom!
📍 Rising Sunflowers is located at Fox Farms, 6125 State Road 56 N, just outside Rising Sun. You can’t miss the bright field as you come into town!

Take a Ferry Ride to Rabbit Hash ⛴️
Take a free ride across the Ohio River aboard the Rising Star Ferry and spend a little time exploring Rabbit Hash. Rising Sun and Rabbit Hash are only about 2,000 feet apart by water, making the ferry a fun and convenient way to travel between the two river towns.
The ferry also provides a convenient shortcut from Rising Sun to CVG Airport, Florence Mall, and other businesses in Florence, potentially saving travelers nearly an hour of driving, depending on traffic and their destination.
Walk around Rabbit Hash, stop by the historic general store, enjoy the river views, and then ride the ferry back to Rising Sun. Ferry rides are free thru 2026.

Enjoy a Meal Outdoors 🍔
Make the most of a warm summer day with a cold drink and something good to eat outside. King’s Landing, located at 143 Main Street, offers sidewalk seating in the heart of town, while Paddy Wagon, at 201 Maiden Lane, provides outdoor seating near the Ohio River. Pick your view, grab a table, and enjoy a relaxed summer meal before cooler weather arrives.

Enjoy a Scoop on Main Street 🍦
No summer list would be complete without ice cream! I stopped at The Scoop on Main, located at 201 Main Street, for a scoop of Roadrunner Raspberry—and it was so good. I took it outside and enjoyed a little Main Street time with a few of the locals.
Can’t decide on just one flavor? Try an ice cream flight featuring four flavors for only $5.
