Family Fun with Critter Cinema

Families can enjoy an evening of activities, treats, and an outdoor movie during the Critter Cinema Family Night on Friday, August 28.

The fun takes place from 5–8 p.m. at the Ohio County Tourism Visitors Center, 217 N. High Street, followed by a showing of Zootopia 2 beginning at 8 p.m.

The evening will include arts-and-crafts vendors, Boots & Mini Moo’s, face painting, and a make-and-take craft. Dori’s Rolled Ice Cream will also be there, with 50% off selected items sponsored by JAM Real Estate. The Scouts will provide free popcorn for the movie.

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and settle in for a fun family evening in Rising Sun.

The city is now selling advance amusement-ride wristbands for the September 18–19 Navy Bean Fall Festival. The advertised advance price is $20 per day, available at City Hall, 200 N. Walnut Street. Festival admission is free. Current wristband announcement

Grand marshal announcement

The city announced that Tim Hillman, longtime local newspaper editor, will serve as the 2026 Navy Bean Fall Festival Grand Marshal.
