🦅 Bald Eagles Around Rising Sun

Bald eagle spotted just outside Rising Sun this week.
Have you ever spotted one along the road as you're heading into Rising Sun?
Bald eagles have made a strong comeback in the Ohio River Valley over the past couple of decades. Once nearly gone from the region, they are now commonly seen soaring over the river or perched in tall trees along the shoreline.
This week I spotted one myself while heading into town and managed to grab a photo.
Eagles prefer areas near water where they can hunt fish, which makes the Ohio River and surrounding farmland perfect habitat. During the winter months especially, more eagles can often be seen along the riverbanks.
So next time you're driving along the river or heading into town, keep an eye on the treetops—you might spot one of these incredible birds watching over our little river town.
📸 Have you taken a photo of an eagle or other wildlife around Rising Sun? Send it in and we may feature it in a future issue!
🛍️ Spring Finds at Rising Sun Market Place
The Rising Sun Market Place on Main Street is a fun stop for anyone who enjoys browsing antiques, local goods, and unique gifts. The shop features antiques, vintage décor, clothing, local beef, fresh eggs, honey, and even ice cream. Visitors will find vendor booths throughout the store where local sellers rent spaces and display everything from handmade items to seasonal décor. Right now, the second floor is filled with cheerful spring and Easter displays, including handmade quilted bunnies and colorful seasonal decorations. Whether you're hunting for a vintage treasure or a unique gift, the Market Place always has something new to discover.
