🏛️ Rising Star Casino Expected to Remain in Rising Sun

Recent discussions about relocating the casino created uncertainty for many in the community. New developments at the Indiana Statehouse now suggest the Rising Star Casino will remain in Rising Sun for the foreseeable future.

A proposed compromise would allow an additional casino license in northeast Indiana while keeping the local casino operating — a move community leaders say helps protect local jobs and preserve important tax revenue for Ohio County.

For many residents, the news brings a sense of relief. The Rising Star Casino has long supported local employment, tourism, and community funding through tax revenue and regional visitors.

While final legislative steps are still underway, the current compromise signals stability for businesses and workers who depend on the casino’s continued presence, helping maintain economic activity while preserving Rising Sun’s small-town character.

For generations, the Rising Sun Lions Club has quietly supported local causes and community projects, often through simple gatherings that bring neighbors together. This Saturday’s annual Pancake Breakfast continues that tradition, offering residents a chance to enjoy a warm meal while supporting programs that benefit the Ohio County community throughout the year.
