Hello Rising Sun!
Here’s what’s happening this week around town.

As warmer weather settles into Ohio County, community events are beginning to fill the calendar across Rising Sun.

This weekend brings a mix of downtown activity, volunteer opportunities, recycling events, and family-friendly gatherings as residents head outdoors for the spring season.

On Friday evening, downtown Rising Sun will welcome classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles during the Fun in Rising Sun Car Cruise-In presented by Ohio County Tourism. The event will feature music from Deejay JD Hughes along with food trucks Rollin Rooster and Tiki Treatz.

Saturday will also feature several community cleanup opportunities. Along with the FREE tire disposal event for Ohio County residents, the Ohio County Recycling Center will host a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event where residents can safely dispose of household chemicals and hazardous materials.

Then on Sunday evening, volunteers will gather at the Rising Sun Community Garden to help plant vegetables that will later be donated to the Christian Outreach Free Store. Community members are encouraged to bring gloves and garden tools and help support the local effort.

With planting season underway and more outdoor events returning to town, May is shaping up to be a busy month across Rising Sun.
