🏡 Welcome to Issue #31 of the Rising Sun Newsletter
Hey everyone!
Life got a little busy around here this week, so we’re keeping this edition of the Rising Sun Newsletter short and sweet with an events-focused issue.
Luckily, there’s a LOT happening in Rising Sun this week!
And as always, if you know about an upcoming event, have a local story idea, or know someone or something we should feature, send it my way!
🍂 Fall Junkin’ Trail — September 17–19
It’s time to go junkin’!
The Fall Southeast Indiana Junkin’ Trail Extravaganza runs Thursday through Saturday, September 17–19, from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. each day.
The trail includes antique, vintage and décor shops throughout Southeast Indiana — and Rising Sun Market Place, 201 Main Street, is one of this year’s stops.
If you love antiques, vintage finds, farmhouse décor or just the thrill of finding something unexpected, this might be a fun way to spend the weekend.
One of Rising Sun’s longtime traditions returns Friday and Saturday, September 18–19, in downtown Rising Sun.
The Navy Bean Fall Festival will feature food and craft vendors, amusement rides, live entertainment and plenty of activity along the riverfront.
Friday: 4–10 p.m.
Saturday: 10:30 a.m.–10:30 p.m.
Saturday night will wrap up with fireworks at 10 p.m., so bring a lawn chair and enjoy an evening along the river.
Admission to the festival is free.
There will be plenty of live music throughout the weekend.
Friday:
Rising Sun Church of Christ Worship Team
Lunch Box
Saturday:
Band a Hoosiers
The Marty Connor Band
Are You Ready for It — A Taylor Experience
The Whammies
Come downtown, grab something to eat and enjoy some live music along the riverfront!
Don’t forget the Navy Bean Fall Festival Parade Saturday, September 19 at 10:30 a.m.
Expect floats, walkers, cars, tractors and more making their way through downtown Rising Sun.
This year’s Grand Marshal is longtime Rising Sun community member Tim Hillman, who has spent decades serving the community through local journalism, coaching, sports and photography.
🎡 NAVY BEAN FESTIVAL WRISTBANDS
Advance amusement-ride wristbands for the September 18–19 Navy Bean Fall Festival are available for $20 per day at Rising Sun City Hall, 200 N. Walnut Street. Festival admission is free. Purchase early if you plan to ride
📸 Festival Photos Wanted!
I’ll unfortunately be missing the Navy Bean Fall Festival this year, so if you’re out enjoying the festivities and happen to get some great photos, I’d love for you to share them with me!
I may feature some of them in next week’s Rising Sun Newsletter so we can highlight all the fun from the weekend.
Thanks so much for helping me keep everyone connected to what’s happening around town! ❤️
