Hey everyone!

I stopped by the Motor Meet Up on Friday and enjoyed seeing all the cool cars lined up in downtown Rising Sun. It was a beautiful evening, and I loved the music, the energy and the fun atmosphere. Here are a few photos from the evening.

October is getting started with plenty happening around Rising Sun. Dumpster Day is Saturday, October 3, from 7:00–11:00 a.m. or until the dumpsters are full. Rising Sun–Ohio County Schools begin Fall Break Monday, October 5 through Friday, October 9, with students returning Monday, October 12.

Also on Monday, October 5, volunteers are invited to take part in a River Sweep from 6:00–7:00 p.m. at Arnold’s Creek Boat Ramp.

Looking a little farther ahead, October 17 brings the Ohio County Historical Society Bake-Off and Ohio County Open Beef Preview Show, while October 24 includes the Red Wolf Rampage 5K/10K, another River Sweep and the Realtors’ Trunk-or-Treat.

Red Wolf Sanctuary is currently seeking meat donations to help feed the animals in its care. If you're cleaning out the freezer, don't automatically toss that freezer-burned meat — the Sanctuary may be able to put it to good use.

They accept unseasoned, unsalted, uncooked meat. Before dropping off a donation, contact Red Wolf Sanctuary at 812-438-2306 for current donation and drop-off information.

Rising Sun Middle School discount cards are still available for $20, with savings at participating local businesses through August 31, 2027.

Cards can be purchased through Rising Sun–Ohio County Community Schools, or stop by The Scoop on Main and pick one up while supporting the owner’s son with his school fundraiser.

It’s a simple way to support our local students while enjoying discounts around town.
